Jackie's Forget Me Nots

Friday Face-Off is a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy
and run by Lynn’s Book Blog.

This weeks theme:

20th Sept – “Your hair is winter fire, January embers.”
– A cover featuring hair

It happens that I’m currently reading It by Stephen King and I recognized the quote coming from Part 2 Chapter 4 “Ben Hanscom Takes a Fall”. He was a teenager when he fell in love with Beverly Marsh and her hair happens to be red but so does Pennywise have red hair so *I am going to choose It by Stephen King. I am only familiar with the 2017 newest version and I don’t even know if the book is the same one in the ’80s. Anyway, there are 100 different versions to this book and I’m too lazy to do them all so I’m only picking the ones that caught my eye.

It by Stephen King

Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real.

They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made twenty-eight years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children. Now, children are being murdered again and their repressed memories of that terrifying summer return as they prepare to once again battle the monster lurking in Derry’s sewers.

HI Tammy, yes it is very demonizing. Thanks for playing!

Clever you for tracking down the quote! Yes – I do see what you mean about the redhead and the blond:). It’s a fabulous combination. Himself is (or was) redheaded and I used to be blond, before he largely turned white and I became pink and blond… so I heartily approve of that dynamic:)).

My favourite is 4. That brooding look of theat is creepy without being plain gross – I don’t do horror, being too much of a wuss.

  3. I never would have guessed that quote came from IT!!! I don’t do scary books so I don’t love any of these covers but I would probably go with 5 and 8 if I had to choose

I like 4 and 5 – great choice, I’d forgotten where Id got this quote from so it’s good to know.
