Jackie's Forget Me Nots

No vase can overflow if you never fill it up.

Day One of Blogoween!

This is a challenge created by Anthony @ Keep Reading Forward where the object is to answer a series of prompts regarding popular Halloween creatures that we have read in a book to the best of our ability and be honest.

Witches

A Book or Character that is Magical

Jolie Wilkins series by H.P. Mallory. Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble

Creepy Crawlies

Fictional monsters/creatures that you would hate to encounter IRL

Crabs, snakes, spiders, scorpions, skinwalkers, Reeves and/or Dementors.

Vampires

A Book, Series, or Author You Can’t Live Without.

Game of Thrones and George R.R. Martin

Werewolves

A Book Best Reading in the Middle of the Night.

Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole

Zombies

A Book You Picked Up for the 2nd Time or Continued after DNFing it.

Idk Consumed? by J.R Ward.

Ghosts

A Character You Saw Right Through or a Book You Easily Predicted a Twist or the Ending.

Nada. I am terrible at predicting but I knew someone who could always see straight through to predict the outcome. I can’t. Even with Twilight. So much happens and can you believe that TWIST?! I’m talking about Breaking Dawn. They got their HEA and that is everything.

Frankenstein

A Book that Truly Shocked You.

Nothing truly shocks me, not yet anyway but I haven’t read 50 Shades of Grey. You can say I am shocked and outraged at the neglect and lack of compassion of Victor Frankenstein for leaving his creature to roam the earth alone. Shame on him.

Skeletons

A Book or Character that Chilled You to the Bone or got your Funny Bone.
(Expressions meaning being scared, or finding something really funny.)

The Fever books by Karen Marie Moning. Has both chilling characters like The Crimson Hag, who knits sweaters with your intestines, and funny characters like Christian MacKeltar, a sexy broody Scottish druid turned Unseelie lol, and Dani O’Malley, a very bright young and sassy Sidhe-Seer. Also, Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole has Nucking futs Nix-the-ever-knowing Valkyrie who likes to play matchmaker and is absurdly funny, as well as Lothaire the invincible vampire 🙂 Harry Dresden is also pretty cool and funny. His sidekick Bob the Skull is comedic as are Toot-Toot. I remember feeling goosebumps with Girl of Nightmares, honestly. I think the red coloured text had something to do with it.

Ghouls

A Book that Left You Hungry or a Recipe You Want to Try from a Book.

Spiders Bite by Jennifer Estep. Gin Blanco can cook up a storm in her kitchen. I actually have made Gin’s Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich without the bread. So mixing peanut butter and pumpkin together is actually pretty good.

Goblins

A Greedy Character or a Character that Loves Gold and Jewelry.

Smeagul.

Devil

A Dark, Evil Character.

Sebastian Morgenstern in The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. He’s bad to the bone

Grim Reaper

A Character You Loved or Hated that Died

Severus Snape *sobs. How beautiful are his tears!

Scarecrows

A Book or Character that Scares You.

Sauron from The Lord of The Rings. He’s the epitome of fear.

That concludes Day One of this Blogoween Challenge. I removed a Halloween character Mummies because the nature of not being able to wrap myself around a book or character I would consider the same as being in a reading slump. Although….. A Court of Wings and Ruin is abject 😛 Also, I don’t know who would want to be tagged by me. Got volunteers? Just use the PRESS THIS button and consider yourself tagged my friends!

I find if a series has too many books, a bit daunting, and off putting but I really love The Fever Series and I hope you do read it. Have you read any of Karen Marie Moning before? I read all her books and it doesn’t matter what she writes.
