Jackie's Forget Me Nots

This week’s prompt: What author do you not read and why?

(submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews.)

I am not an avid reader. In fact, I sometimes hate reading. There are a lot of authors I don’t read for various reasons. For instance, I am Catholic so I will not read Charles Darwin or Stephen Hawking. Does that make me a stupid bitch? Idk but I believe in God i.e: Father, Son, Holy Spirit, whereas am I to presume these two people never believed in God their whole life? I have my opinions and when it comes to my faith I feel strongly. Also, neither does it mean I will read an author only, or just because they are Catholic. Heaven’s No! I have a feeling that most authors I read believe in God in some way or another though.

Hi! I saw your comment on my BBH post, but was a bit confused, as I have seen your other blog, “Jackie’s Bookbytes”. I checked out your profile on Blogger, and only that blog is listed. This one, “Jackie’s Forget Me Nots”, is not listed on your profile. So I wasn’t sure you were the same person! Lol. Then I came to this blog, since it’s the one you linked up with on the Book Blogger Hop, and checked out your “About Me” page. So now I know I have the right person! 🙂

I’m Catholic, too, but I do read widely. I haven’t read Darwin or Hawking, but I would not hesitate to do so. However, I totally respect your choice not to read books by these authors. I don’t usually read very scientific books, though. My nonfiction choices are more in the fields of psychology, philosophy, and theology, and I do read widely in these fields.

As for fiction, the things that really bother me are foul language, and overly graphic sex scenes. In fact, I do prefer clean reads. The two fiction genres I refuse to read are horror and erotica. Both are totally repulsive to me! Although I didn’t mention her in my blog post, I also detest E.L. James, the author of the 50 Shades of Grey series.

Thanks for sharing! And thanks as well for commenting on my BBH post!! Hope you’re having a GREAT Saturday!! ❤ 🙂

P.S. I mentioned your other blog in a post I wrote regarding blogs with dark backgrounds. I LOVE "Jackie's Bookbytes" because you use a dark background on that blog!

Here's the link to the post where I mentioned "Jackie's Book Bytes":

Sorry about the confusion. Yes I have two blogs 🙂 . Anyway I would not read EL James’ books 50 Shades of Grey aka smut either. I do read paranormal romance and that sometimes has a lot of erotica like in the Black Dagger Brotherhood.
