Early this morning on the jogging path I overheard someone say that it looked Halloween (as an adjective). I mean along the river, numerous black crows gawked and squawked to each other, sometimes at us. They can be a little disconcerting and eerie. The tree leaves are all so golden and yellow and falling to the ground. The only thing missing was fog and perhaps an old dilapidated house by the river bank? The morning air felt crisp already.

What I finished Reading
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
It has been a long time since I read the Lux novels. I remember neither Luc or his friends and not much about Sergeant Dasher or the experiments on kids.
All of Luc’s friends, Dee, Archer and even Daemon are back in The Darkest Star.
Luc is a bloody Origin, NOT a Luxen, which means he is bigger, better, stronger, etc.
What didn’t I like? Why did Evie or Luc always finish each other’s sentences? It was annoying. I know, I’m picky, but it bothered me ok? Also, the writing didn’t appeal to my intelligence, but it’s YA so I can’t expect anything more however disappointing.
I don’t remember much about Micah. Micah was only ten years old but because of the human experiments, he aged rapidly.
In The Darkest Star, we learn about who Evie is. I didn’t understand the way she felt over her ordeal. She couldn’t accept that she used to be Nadia? Why not? And the other thing, she was only four years into acquiring Evelyn’s memories so why was learning about who she used to be so detrimental like make her want to flip out? Why couldn’t she see she was special? She was very immature and not very reasonable. I mean people loved her enough to save her, and all she could think was how they lied to her? FFS’s! As far as I’m concerned, there is nothing wrong with finding out you used to be someone else. Deal with it, get over it. So, she lost her memories of who she was before, and that’s sad and unfortunate, but, I mean if she still looks like Nadia is she then Evie? Cripes!
Whatever Micah told Luc, was meant for another novel obviously, because of something he said about “they’re coming,” or “they’re here.” What do you think Micah meant? To be continued
What I’m Currently Reading
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the popular Black Dagger Brotherhood series comes a brand-new novel about arson investigator, Ann Ashburn, who is consumed by her troubled past, her family’s scorched legacy, and her current case: chasing a deadly killer.
Anne Ashburn is a woman consumed…
By her bitter family legacy, by her scorched career as a firefighter, by her obsession with department bad-boy Danny McGuire, and by a new case that pits her against a fiery killer.
Strong-willed Anne was fearless and loved the thrill of fighting fires, pushing herself to be the best. But when one risky decision at a warehouse fire changes her life forever, Anne must reinvent not only her job but her whole self.
Shattered and demoralized, Anne finds her new career as an arson investigator a pale substitute for the adrenaline-fueled life she left behind. She doesn’t believe she will ever feel that same all-consuming passion for her job again–until she encounters a string of suspicious fires setting her beloved city ablaze.
Danny McGuire is a premiere fireman, best in the county, but in the midst of a personal meltdown. Danny is taking risks like never before and seems to have a death wish until he teams up with Anne to find the fire starter. But Danny may be more than a distraction, and as Anne narrows in on her target, the arsonist begins to target her.
From the creator of the bestselling Black Dagger Brotherhood, get ready for a new band of brothers. And a firestorm . . .
Up Next (maybe)?
One thousand years ago, the great Kami Dragon was summoned to grant a single terrible wish—and the land of Iwagoto was plunged into an age of darkness and chaos.
Now, for whoever holds the Scroll of a Thousand Prayers, a new wish will be granted. A new age is about to dawn.
Raised by monks in the isolated Silent Winds temple, Yumeko has trained all her life to hide her yokai nature. Half kitsune, half human, her skill with illusion is matched only by her penchant for mischief. Until the day her home is burned to the ground, her adoptive family is brutally slain, and she is forced to flee for her life with the temple’s greatest treasure—one part of the ancient scroll.
Many would claim the dragon’s wish for their own. Kage Tatsumi, a mysterious samurai of the Shadow Clan, is one such hunter, under orders to retrieve the scroll…at any cost. Fate brings Kage and Yumeko together. With a promise to lead him to the parchment, an uneasy alliance is formed, offering Yumeko her best hope for survival. But he seeks what she has hidden away, and her deception could ultimately tear them both apart.
With an army of demons at her heels and the unlikeliest of allies at her side, Yumeko’s secrets are more than a matter of life or death. They are the key to the fate of the world itself.
I forgot I watched the season finale of The Originals on Youtube. What an awesome show! I really liked Julie Plec’s written creations in both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, and am sad that it is over. I hope she continues writing and creating fantastic films.
