I got my steroid injection on Friday. It wasn’t a pleasant experience. Although the pain did diminish, I don’t like the side effects. It raises your blood pressure, and blood sugar levels although this should lessen after 3 days. The needle felt achy like it was hitting a nerve and went straight into my muscle. Six hours later, I went to Safeway to see how high my blood pressure was because I wasn’t feeling good and because I don’t have my own cuff, and it was 157 over 84! I need to talk it over with my doctor, but perhaps just an anti-inflammatory medication like Advil will suffice. We shall see. I’m supposed to be taking it easy for the first 24 to 48 hours. On the bright side, I’m looking forward to wearing (not so high) heels again.
I was so excited to receive an e-arc of Kill The Queen that I had to start reading it. So far I’m loving it! It is full of descriptive words to convey the mood surrounding Eveleigh’s life at Seven Spire castle. She is a mutt, less than noble who doesn’t appear to have any magic ability, but we know she is hiding it from everyone. Other than her keen sense of smell she is immune to magical powers which reminds me of the elemental assassin series with stone, earth, water, fire, and ice magic. Poor Evie left orphaned with no place to go is kicked out, more like, blasted out of the kingdom by her second cousin Vasilia with her lightning magic,(she reminds me of Mab Monroe from The Elemental Assassin) and ends up in the river several meters below. Good times.
I also got Samantha March’s ebook Kristy. Kristy is more of a light; natural, feel-good chick lit about friendship. It’s free on kindle unlimited.
I want to showcase my Owlcrate Strange & Unusual box featuring My Plain Jane. I like the wallet. It looks durable and well made and comes with a decent wrist strap.
I haven’t tried the mints yet cause you know, sugar. The push pins are adorable. I like the Halloween vibes. I admit I only got the box because of My Plain Jane and never considered the other things.
I started listening to Pieces of Her by Karin Slaughter, but I don’t feel like reading a dark and severe story at the moment. I’m five books behind schedule in my Goodreads reading challenge.
I finished and reviewed From Here to You by Jamie McGuire
What I watched on Netflix
I started watching The Sinner, but it is kind of creepy. I was not too fond of Cora’s mother blaming Cora for her sister dying, and the unknown variables are too many. Like her weird parents and what’s up with that song that triggers Cora to murder? What’s up with her husband? Moreover, she has a son? Wtf? I mean she killed someone. On a beach. In front of everyone. The boy and girl going at it in front of kids, was inappropriate and disgusting and someone needed to stop them but not by murdering him lol I thought it was why Cora killed him but it was because of the music!
I also watched The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society, and it was all right, but it’s not my thing. It was romantic, but she never knew he liked her until she kisses him. I didn’t finish To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before either. Ugh. It isn’t my thing.
Does anyone have any other recommendations? What about The Innocents or Cathedral Of the Sea? Are they good? I am waiting for the next season of Outlander, The 100, Glitch, The OA, The New Legends of Monkey, The end of the F@#*ing World, The Walking Dead and more. I’m always waiting.
This week I added ten new books to my Goodreads TBR shelf and got rid of 9 old ones. Ha!
I think that’s all for this week. I wish everyone a lovely and relaxing weekend.
