Jackie's Forget Me Nots

No vase can overflow if you never fill it up.

Down The TBR Hole is a meme that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read. It’s a fun way to clean up your shelf to make room for new ones. Each Saturday, I’ll share ten books that have been on my to-be-read shelf for the longest and then decide whether I’m keeping them or not.

HERE ARE THE RULES TO FOLLOW:

  1. Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  2. Order on ascending date added.
  3. Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  4. Read the synopses of the books
  5. Decide: keep it or should it go?
    Alright, let’s do this!

∗All books are affiliated with links to Amazon

The Books

It’s Simple by Michelle Richardson  via @goodreads

Date added to my TBR: November 11, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: Ok. The cover of the book does not scream fiction novel to me. It looks like a cover of a magazine depicting renovations or remodeling rooms *shrugs. After reading the synopsis of this book, I think for these two people, Tia and Chase to stay together, it’s as simple as being honest, forgiving and having a lot of patience.
Verdict: Will not keep

The Secret Formula by Clare Havens  via @goodreads
Date added to my TBR: November 11, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: I don’t know if I would be able to endure the criminal intent of someone ruining Bella’s life by trying to steal her secret formula to a perfume that will make the wearer irresistible. That kinda shit makes my blood pressure rise.
Verdict: It is free on kindle unlimited but I Will Not Keep :/

Meatless Meals for Meat Eaters: Over 150 Delicious Recipes by Miriam Barton  via @goodreads

Date added to my TBR: November 11, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: I love meat. It is my main source of protein! I strive to eat a low carb diet so this needs to go.
Verdict: Will Not Keep

Anya’s Ghost by Vera Brosgol  via @goodreads

Date added to my TBR: November 11, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: a Cute middle-grade story about friendship and ghosts. Anya’s life isn’t much better than being dead it would seem.
Verdict: Will Keep

Same Difference by Derek Kirk Kim  via @goodreads

Date added to my TBR: November 11, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: I haven’t heard anything about this but I must have added it because it is a graphic novel, otherwise I don’t know why I have it in my TBR shelf. I am not interested anymore.
Verdict: Will Not Keep

God I believe by Branch Isole  via @goodreads

Date added to my TBR: November 11, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: I’m not interested. I have faith in God and believe Christianity has been divided and the Body of Christ is unrecognizable where people can’t agree as ONE anymore.
Verdict: Will Not Keep

Dancing in Heaven: A Sister’s Memoir by Christine M. Grote via @goodreads

Date added to my TBR: November 11, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: OMG! This story sounds heartwrenching. It’s about growing up with someone in your family with severe brain damage from birth. She lived like that for 51 years! Can you imagine the dedication of her parents to care for her that long!? That’s incredible. They must have a lot of memories and joys too. God Bless them!
Verdict: It’s free on kindle unlimited. Will not Keep

Scar by Ryan Frawley
Date added to my TBR: November 11, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: Scar is about someone suffering from schizophrenia. I think it would be fascinating to see into the struggles from his perspective.  The cover is interesting.
Verdict: I have too many books and cannot afford to keep it on my shelf. Will Not Keep

The Gin Closet by Leslie Jamison

Date added to my TBR: November 11, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: I cannot tolerate drunkenness. No matter what problem in life, drinking is no solution. If that is what you do day in and day out, it is a big waste of life. I can’t. That said, Gin and Tonic was the first drink I ever had on a plane, but I’m not a drinker. I remember reading someone’s recommendation of this book without reading the synopsis.
Verdict: Will Not Keep

Cross Currents by John Shors

Date added to my TBR: November 11, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: Omg, Thailand is a popular vacation spot for those living in Australia I hear. It sounds like a safe and secluded area if you are running away from the law and an Asian inspired romantic getaway lol
Verdict: Will Not Keep

So there you have it. I’m getting rid of 9 out of 10 books ain’t bad.
