Jackie's Forget Me Nots

No vase can overflow if you never fill it up.

As I was perusing my Reader list of blogs that I follow, which is quite a substantial amount, I clicked on thestaircasereader and I found exactly what I needed in order to clean up my Goodreads TBR shelf.

Down The TBR Hole is a bookish meme created by Lia @ Lost In A Story. Each Saturday, or for how long it takes to cleanse my #tbr shelf, I’ll share ten books that have been on my to-be-read shelf for the longest and then I’ll share whether I’m keeping them or letting them go.

Here are the rules to follow:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
    Order on ascending date added.
Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
Read the synopses of the books
Decide: keep it or should it go?
    Alright, let’s do this!

The Books

Date added to my TBR: Nov 7th, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: The cover is nice and the premise is mysterious about people disappearing and coming back different but then there is an abusive boyfriend. It sounds like it could be about werewolves. They change and disappear but come back. IDK but after reading a few reviews, I am not interested in finding out.
Verdict: Not Keep

Date added to my TBR Nov 7th, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: Not good. It’s about Elena being kidnapped in human trafficking and spousal abuse? I don’t know what I was thinking when I added it to my shelf :/
Verdict: Not keep

Date added to my TBR: Nov 7th, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: A novella to follow Stealing Grace. It is about human trafficking
Verdict: Not Keep

Date added to my TBR: Nov 07th, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: I’ve never read a murder mystery about Sherlock Holmes so perhaps I wanted to taste a bit of the intellectual with this one
Verdict: Will keep

Date added to my tbr: Nov. 7, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: The cover is certainly attractive and I’ve read Jaci Burton before and I remember liking her writing style. I don’t mind Football either. I’m counting on this one is a winner.
Verdict: Will keep

Date added to my tbr: Nov 7th, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: haha lol Irresistible is a paranormal fantasy about werewolves and sirens. It would be interesting to see how these two creatures play out. Sounds delicious
Verdict: Will keep

Date added to my tbr: Nov 8, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: It’s a crime thriller and sounds dark and dangerous as Alex Vaughn goes investigating Buffalo’s mafia in search of the one who killed his friend Jack.
Verdict: hmmm will not keep

Date added to my tbr: Nov 8,2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: Wow, police constable Tessa Leoni shot her husband in self-defense and her daughter is missing. I can only imagine this is a case of a love between a mother and her child. She was protecting her at all cost it sounds like.
Verdict: Will keep

Date added to my tbr: Nov 8, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: A seventeen-year-old Scorpio racing champion Sean Kendrick and a reluctant girl Puck, enter the competition unaware of what is about to happen
Verdict: Definite Keeper

Date added to my tbr: Nov 8, 2011
My thoughts after reading the blurb: I actually started reading this but I wasn’t enjoying the emails back and forth. It made it difficult to keep up with who’s who. I could not get into it. The email rote. I don’t like drama either.

It’s so much easier to reject someone over the Internet than in real life. Score one for online dating!

Since I own it and it is on my kindle
Verdict: I am keeping it.

So that isn’t bad. I kept six and removed four. I am only familiar with a few of the authors mentioned above which means I have read some of their other works. I enjoyed Maggie Stiefvater’s (The Wolves of Mercy Falls) and Jaci Burtons Riding the Night (Wild Riders, #5)

Have you read any of the books I listed above?

  1. This is my fifth week doing down the tbr hole and I honestly feel so good about myself and my decisions. I am so glad you joined the stressful ride lol. I look forward to reading your posts. As for your tbr list, the only author I’ve read is Jaci Burton and you made a excellent choice to keep The Perfect Play!

I haven’t heard about the other authors either. I have a lot of books that I need to purge. Thanks for stopping by, take care.
