. . . About a Lost Herondale and a Shadowhunter
named Annabel

I finished reading Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare this week and I LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!

Here is my review with lots of spoilers

A lot happens in Lord of Shadows. My favorite character is Kit Rooke aka Christopher Herondale.

“You’re Kit Herondale,” she said. “The lost Herondale.”
“I didn’t realize I was lost,” said Kit. “I never felt lost.”

Kit is 15 yrs old. He never particularly cared about being a Shadowhunter, but he slowly changes his mind after he is taken in by the Blackthorn family and the Los Angeles Institute. I expect it was his father who kept Kit from knowing who he really was, but his father is dead now. He learns to steal to survive but has so much potential! I want to see him use his Nephilim gifts to the max.

It just so happened I received my order from Annabelle Cosmetics (not an affiliate link) the same day Lord of Shadows arrived. Coincidence? I think not. I bought two eyeliners in gunmetal and metal daze. They practically match the colors of the books cover! That’s weird, right? lol

Annabel aka Lady Midnight, is a character in Lord of Shadows. She was dead but the warlock, Malcolm Fade raises her from the dead. She, in turn, kills him. Her role is very significant, and she now holds the Black Volume of the Dead with a lot of dark magic inside that promises a whole lot of answers. Anyhow, that book would be dangerous in the wrong hands. Annabel claims it belongs to her and will not give it up for no one. Not even Julien Blackthorn. Because you see, Julien has made a deal with the Seelie Queen. If he finds the black book, he is supposed to hand it over to the Queen in exchange for his parabatai bond to be removed in which it no longer poses a threat to his relationship with Emma. Which means they will be allowed to continue loving each other without it being detrimental. That is how I understood it anyway. Parabatai’s are forbidden to fall in love. It doesn’t make much sense to me since what I believe about Love certainly includes a Parabatai bond Lmao! Love is the opposite of hate, and best friends indeed love each other although not romantically. Whatever I digress. Anyway, Parabatai’s are not allowed to be romantically involved. I guess that would be a better way of putting it.

Jeez, Louise.

Fuck I’m done.

Cassandra Clare whips my ass at story telling :p

I am currently reading. . .

Unraveled (Elemental Assassin #15

Publisher’s Summary

After the shocking revelations of the previous book, Bitter Bite, the world of Ashland’s become even more sinister, and Gin Blanco (aka Ashland’s most fearsome assassin, the Spider) no longer knows whom – or what – she can count on. Only one thing is for certain: Danger and new enemies await Gin in Unraveled, book 15 in the New York Times best-selling Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series that RT Book Reviews calls “unbeatable entertainment!”
What could go wrong when you’re trying to unravel a decades-old conspiracy?
As the current queen of the Ashland underworld, you would think that I, Gin Blanco, would know all about some secret society controlling things from behind the scenes. I might be the Spider, the city’s most fearsome assassin, but all my Ice and Stone elemental magic hasn’t done me a lick of good in learning more about the Circle. Despite my continued investigations, the trail’s gone as cold as the coming winter.
So when Finnegan Lane, my foster brother, gets word of a surprising inheritance, we figure, why not skip town for someplace less dangerous for a few days? That place: Bullet Pointe, a fancy hotel resort complex plus Old West theme park that Finn now owns lock, stock, and barrel. At first, all the struttin’ cowboys and sassy saloon girls are just hokey fun. But add in some shady coincidences and Circle assassins lurking all around, and vacationing becomes wilder – and deadlier – than any of us expected.
Good thing this assassin brought plenty of knives to the gunfight….

I also watched another episode of The Originals. I enjoyed Phantomesque. It is reassuring to know at least Elijah can be brought back from the dead even though we won’t find out when. He died guys, because of that terrible creature The Hollow. grrr. me no likey.

I missed Rebecca and Cole.
I am left with fewer options in my Netflix viewing. If anybody has any TV recommendations, please let me know.

Yes, well I would recommend you read The Bane Chronicles and Shadowhunter Academy before The Dark Artifices. I haven’t finished either book yet. NOT having read them is a bit of a disadvantage, as things can get complicating. So It is best to read the books in order as they are released. It helps to know whose who and what’s what in the complex Shadowhunter world that Cassandra Clare created if you read The Bane Chronicles and Shadowhunter Academy before Lady Midnight. Assuming you have read the Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices. Ya so anyway. .. .

  2. Haha, that is a good coincidence, I didn’t get it before you explained it about the name 😀

I’m not entirely caught up with The Originals yet. Also, I’m reading Lady Midnight now, and loving it! Can’t wait to pick up the sequel.

My It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? post.

I hope I didn’t spoil The Dark Artifices for you. Waiting for the next book and/or episodes sucks. I’d much rather marathon my favorite book or TV series when all is said and done. I hope you enjoy Lord of Shadows as well.

G;ad you enjoyed your books. Armchair Book Expo, getting ready to move, drama club, and a volunteers’ tea. Come see what I’m reading this week.

I couldn’t get through Mortal Instruments but maybe I should give Cassandra another try! Do you have to finish Mortal Instruments to read this series?

    1. Jackie says:

You can read whatever you want. It might make you want to read the other books
