I thought I’d share my thoughts inspired by another bloggers daily post from yesterday called How ’bout them Apples?!
Don’t you hate it when most fruit in those neat piles at the grocery store are unripe? Even though the fruit may look nicer than the organic ones most of it tastes bad. I wonder if it is true that they inject them with chemicals to make their shelf life longer? If that’s so, chemically enhanced fruit tastes wrong and is bad for you. Any kind of fruit should never be eaten when it’s not ripe. I don’t know about you but I can’t stand biting into a hard peach.
Recently I bought some peaches that tasted like dry cotton but they looked deceivingly nice on the outside. I had to feel each one to see if it was soft enough to eat and picked out only the softer ones underneath the pile thinking they were going to be riper. Alas, they were so dry and tasteless that I couldn’t eat it and I ended up throwing them out. Such a waste of an otherwise delicious peach. I know you can ripen peaches by putting them in a brown paper bag but I don’t think it would’ve made much of a difference because of the way the inside tasted. I am kinda appaulled how stores would even sell something like that and since I don’t want to offend anyone by complaining about the quality of their fruit I must get it out of my system. All I can do is blog about it right?
I love fruit but it’s so hard to find juicy ripe ones nowadays and since I don’t have a car it is inconvenient locationwise, to shop at the local farmer’s market.
