Jackie's Forget Me Nots

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Oasis.”

It’s nothing fancy or anything, but when I need to recharge my batteries or get some perspective back in my life, I sit in my rocking chair and rock for hours or however long it takes to get my mind actively involved again.

My rocking chair soothes me like a baby sucking on her mother’s breast, and sometimes I doze off while rocking myself to sleep. If that’s not a sanctuary, I don’t know what is. Of course, there would be peace and quiet in that place and nothing too distracting, but I can still have the TV on as my mind wanders, and I ponder. It’s the noise that I can handle as long as there isn’t any real person around.

I prefer being alone in my breathing space.  If I feel the need to go somewhere, it is then I’d pick up a book to read by my favorite author and let myself be taken inside whatever fantasy world the author’s created and live there for a time. One of my favorite authors is Kresley Cole, and my current read is Dark Skye from the immortals after dark series. I can’t wait to join Lanthe and Thronos again on my rocking chair. Thank God for books and authors AND rocking chairs!
