Jackie's Forget Me Nots

No vase can overflow if you never fill it up.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme about what we’ve read last week and are currently reading, and what we plan on reading next. It is hosted by Sheila@bookjourney.net

I haven’t been reading much at all and for 2015 I’ve decided to limit my reading to 24 books. I’ve also joined the No book buying Challenge AND Snagged @ the library challenge besides the 2015 reading Challenge on Goodreads. That means I will have time to do other things like maybe write and blog reviews? idk. It also may change more or less depending on how I feel.

Angelfall (Penryn and the End of Days, #1)What I read this past week is Angelfall  by Susan Ee. This was my first book of 2015 and I didn’t like it. I don’t like reading dystopia and it was very apocalyptic. The Angel Raffe (short for Raphael) is a fallen angel and that didn’t work for me. So many unanswered questions about the angels. I absolutely didn’t like that the author chose names of real Angels from Heaven. Not original , not cool. Thinking about Raffe’s broken wings now, is kind of gross. The book was gross what else can I say? When the girl protagonist Penryn in Angelfall finally does find her sister, it was disturbing. The whole book is basically about Penryn traipsing all over the country hoping to find her baby sister alive. I gotta say she was tough. Her mother was a freak though. I sort of pictured her as a demon but whatever. Angelfall doesn’t really reveal what her mother is except a very disturbed and unstable person? hmmm.

Silver Shadows (Bloodlines, #5)I am currently reading and listening to Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead. The only reason I picked these books up was because I really liked Vampire Academy, except I don’t really care for Adrian or Sydney or Jill. Silver Shadows is about Sydney being held prisoner inside a hostile place for re-conditioning. Nobody outside the Alchemists knows where they are and Adrian seems to think he’s going to bust Sydney out when he finds out where she is. I haven’t come to the conclusion yet , but poor Sydney is not giving in and is quite the rebel.  I like whenever Dimitri or Rose or Lissa make an appearance; my heart beats faster 😛 I’ve heard there is only one more book left to be published this year. I borrowed the audiobook from the library.

The Book of Life (All Souls Trilogy, #3)What I Plan to read The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness. This book is on my TBR shelf but I probably won’t read it without listening to the audio which I can borrow from the library.

A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1)I still have plans to finish the Game of Thrones series and Outlander. These book series are thick and long and I will need a lot of time to get through them. I’ve already started reading book 1 in The Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R.Martin while listening to it on audio and am finding it tough. I really liked the TV shows but I will soon find out if the books are indeed better.

Voyager (Outlander, #3)The Voyager by Diana Gabaldon is another long story in which I will probably listen to. I can borrow the book and audiobook from the library. Idk I find reading along while listening to the audio is a better experience for me because I don’t listen well . That’s my problem.

I would go crazy if I limited myself to a handful of books. Or would I? Maybe I would read more carefully. And do other things. Interesting idea!

    Here’s my It’s Monday!

These look like fantastic reads and I cannot wait to read your reviews of them!

  3. Aww I am sorry you didn’t like Angelfall, I didn’t like it at first but I then got really into it. The second book in the series is pretty bad though, things got weird really fast! I really want to start the game of thrones series too but I think I will wait to after I finish my thesis in September!

Thanks for stopping by my blog 🙂

  4. I’ve heard such great things about The Song of Ice and Fire series (a friend of mine is currently obsessed with everything Game of Thrones), and the first book is sitting on my shelf waiting for me to get to them.

It took me a while to get into Game of Thrones, but watching the first season helped while I read the first book–just to get a picture of the people IN the books, while it is a bit different. And I ended up finishing the whole series in just about 2 weeks. GREAT reads.
I am just getting into Outlander, too! I love your books to be read.
