Me reading my 2015 First Book of The Year – Angelfall by Susan Ee

I chose this book because rumors say that we are living in the End of Days . Ha! Seriously though it was on my Christmas Wishlist and I received it from my Secret Santa this year. Admittedly I have never read a book about Angels that I really like yet and Angelfall is one of the best books of the year, so I had to see for myself if it is as great as some are saying. My favorite reading genre is paranormal fantasy but this is dystopian and young adult so I am a little skeptical about it. After reading 10 chapters of the book, my first complaint is that the sentences are a little choppy but the story flows from chapter to chapter .

Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, Book 1)
It’s been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels’ stronghold in San Francisco where she’ll risk everything to rescue her sister and he’ll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

It looks like it will be an interesting read. Last night we watched a movie about angels, Wings of Desire. It’s the original German movie that was later made into City of Angels for the US. I liked City of Angels a little better, I think.

Enjoy your read! And Happy New Year!
